I have 20 years experience as a voice teacher working with all the intricacies of the singing voice. To develop a strong, open and liberated voice, I begin work with the body and breath as well as encouraging an awareness of the of emotional material we each have to fuel our performances. I teach students how to maintain vocal health whilst at the same time facilitating the discovery of unknown parts of their voices.

In 2000 I completed a two-year experiential training in Voice Movement Therapy, which is a dynamic system, based on the artistic & therapeutic possibilities of the singing voice. It was developed in the UK by Paul Newham, and is predominantly built on the work of Alfred Wolfsohn & Roy Hart. It consists of a series of physical postures with corresponding vocal configurations, which tap into previously unknown areas of the voice and strengthen existing ones.

When working with children I play musical games to help them to learn to use their ears for pitching and timing. I help them distinguish between shouting and singing keeping their sound as natural and open as possible. It has to be fun or it ain't gonna work!
